Effective Altruism is a growing social movement based on the idea that good intentions alone, while admirable, are not enough to have an impact. Instead, we are committed to combining compassion with reasoning and evidence to work out how to best improve the world. With this broad approach, we tackle some of the most challenging questions facing us: what global problems should we prioritize, what strategies have the best chances of solving them, and how can we best use our careers, donations, resources and efforts to contribute to these?
Join others from UW for a weekly program investigating how to make a positive impact. The fellowship aims to equip students with the knowledge to do good in the world more effectively and the tools to think critically about their high-impact career ambitions. By the end of the term, fellows have learned about a handful of large-scale and neglected global problems, have tools for prioritizing among social problems and interventions for solving them, and have access to in-depth coaching, career advice/connections, and unique opportunities to help others.
The application deadline for this program is Jan 9
Think critically about how to make the world better. This program aims to resolve the most important uncertainties you might have about doing good, and involves significant direction from participants. It is intended to be a follow-up to the Effective Altruism Fellowship.

The program is aimed at critically understanding the fundamental technical challenges of AI alignment and investigating potential solutions.
